The After 10:55pm Club

Don't eat them...
Came home, meant to study some ancient Greek ... did everything else instead.
 *facepalm*

So what DID I do exactly? Time for some forensic internet history:

I laughed at the plight of iPhone users, a.k.a. autocorrect

Went through all 35 pages of epicwtfs.com (then asked myself WHYYYYY???)

... did find some crazy stuff though.

Example: A crooked forest

from Discovery.com
Brushed up on my internet memes

Went on a CocoRosie binge - watched this

and this

and this

45 minutes 'till Rebecca Black Day (formerly known as FRY-DAY)!

The After 11:23pm Club

yarly
Yes, I jumped ship - I cancelled my membership with the "After 4:00am Club" and bought a temporary pass with the "After 11:23pm Club". I'm moving up... err, back in the world - in the best possible way. Here's some cool stuff I saw this week:

"The Hills are alive with the sound of music..."

Broken Bells - The Ghost Inside

Oh, and remember that post about planking? Yeah, well that's OLDDD news now (apparently!). The latest crazes? Batmanning, owling, horsemanning and plumbking to name a few... =S
Batmanning
Plumbking ... ewww

An awesome picture my mom sent me xD

Some more music (YouTube is like the Facebook for music bloggers - you can't just "check one thing"):

The Lovely Sparrows - Year of the Dog

Ellie Goulding - Lights (Bassnectar Remix)

A random funny I stumbled upon on my fbook Home Feed:

And some old favorites that I finally put onto my iPod:

Placebo - Pure Morning

Sugar Ray - Every Morning

The Crystals - Then He Kissed Me

Whoo! Well, it is after 11:23pm, but I don't think that matters much since I started this post yesterday xD

LIGHTS

Yay, she has a face this time!
Hey guys! So this artist profile has been looong overdue. Meet LIGHTS (a.k.a. Lights Poxleitner) a "Juno-award winning Canadian synthpop artist" according to Wiki P. Edia. Technicalities aside, my history with LIGHTS goes all the way back to high school where my partner in musical crime, Tortia, first told me about this crazy-cool cat. I didn't really appreciate her music then - I was probably too occupied with my romance with MUSE ^_^ - but that would all change.

Cry-Baby

Johnny Depp as the original Cry-Baby in Cry-Baby (1990)

Goddammit Adele... why is your voice so beautiful?? I think I began tearing up before the song even started *wipes cheek* and then once you sung that first line... *blows nose* I choked up.

Adele - Someone Like You

I think it must be true that Rolling In the Deep's "I'm gonna be fine without you" mentality has a counter-part in Someone Like You's "I'm on my knees without you" pain. T
he jerk who broke her heart - I'd push his nose in. The dude even had the nerve to ask for royalties from her album sales because he feels their doomed relationship was the inspiration for some of the tracks.... really???

SO this post is about all the songs that make me cry. (An AWESOME theme, I know :DD) Usually it has to be the right time - for instance you're having a terrible day, or you keep smacking your (not-so) funny bone, maybe you've got a cold or maybe you're just feeling down in the gutters and you listen to a sad song over and over (and over and over and over) again and you've cried so much that all that remains of your mascara are black streaks down your face.... yeah, I've been there B|

As much as I love Saturnine, if I listen to it too much it gets my bleary-eyed.

The Gathering - Saturnine

This one is about broken hearts of another kind - based on what I gathered from the video, lyrics and comments I believe the song is about a friend who committed suicide.

Evanescence - Hello

I went through an "emo" phase in high school... complete with black clothing, purple hair, Emily the Strange and Evanescence.

Avril Lavigne - Slipped Away

This song is still difficult for me to listen to. I listened to it for weeks after my grandpa passed away.

Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton - Doctor Blind

A hauntingly beautiful song.

Thank goodness for tissue paper.

The "After 4:00am Club"

Forget warm milk - the key to a solid sleep is a solid textbook
Random videos I found while trawling YouTube at 4 in the morning... no big deal *yawns*

It began with Fol Chen - In Ruins

this was a comment from FilmeSubitrate:

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

progressed to Jookabox - You Cried Me

went back to an old friend Grizzly Bear - Ready, Able

and made a new friend CocoRosie - Lemonade

Believe it or not, the female moustache
is/was a fashion trend... at least, I recall reading something about it a couple months back. Let's see if I can find it!

Someone please revoke my membership... lol

New MUSEic: September 1st

[INSERT AWESOME PICTURE HERE]

Has it really been 2 weeks? Wow... Clearly, the only logical explanation for my extended absence from MuseontheMind is that I was, very much against my will, sucked into a time warp wherefore I skipped ahead in the space-time continuum. It sounds like a joke...
BUT IT'S NOT

(heh heh, couldn't resist the temptation. Yes, I HAD to throw that in there ^.^)

Anyhoo, here's what I've been listening to lately:
The Deer Tracks - Ram Ram

Sucker Punch (Soundtrack)
I haven't seen the movie (yet!!) but the Sucker Punch album is pretty "fly" as my friend Eli would say. [that rhymed - cool]

Emiliana Torrini - White Rabbit

*Just as a little f.y.i. the singer, Emiliana, also sang "Gollum's Song" in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers:

Bjork is just plain awesome (as usual), but this is a Sucker Punch remix featuring Skunk Anansie:

The original "Army of Me":

Emily Browning shows off her singing chops with a version of the Eurythmic's "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)". Wondering who Emily Browning is? Think 2004's "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events"...

Emily's version:

The original:

Why are they playing cellos in a field with cows and masks??
It WAS the 80's, I'd better not ask xD

My favorite version is Marilyn Manson's:

More Emily but this time with an eerily beautiful version of the Pixie's "Where Is My Mind":

The original:

Finally, I'll end this with Carla Azar's "Tomorrow Never Knows":

Cheers!
